Sejarah Melayu
Among the many tales related in the Sejarah Melayu is that of a swordfish attack on Singapura (Singapore).
The Sejarah Melayu ('Malay Annals'), is a major historical Malay text based on an older work, the Hikayat Melayu ('Malay story'). It tells the story of the rise and fall of the Melaka empire, including the origins of the sultans, the prevalent beliefs and customs, the coming of Islam, and the empire's relationships with other powers. The work follows the traditional Malay concept of history which combines myths, legends and folklore with factual records of historic events, and both Hindu and Islamic influences are identifiable. A number of versions have subsequently appeared.
