Wayang Kulit Siam: The dalang, his puppets and stories
Wayang Kulit Siam is a collection of traditions manifested in the local interpretation of the Indian Ramayana epic. As a play of shadows, puppet movement, music, dialogue, chanting and narration must synchronize in order to infuse shadows with life and vigour. The central figure in a performance is the master puppeteer, and the puppets are his means of conveying the story to the audience.
