Wayang Kulit Siam as ritual
Sita Dewi is believed to be the mother of all puppeteers. Offerings made to her are often delicately constructed.
In the ritual performance of Wayang Kulit Siam, staging of the story is combined with elaborate offerings and shamanistic activity through which the spirits are contacted by the puppeteer and feasted. Enacted for specific purposes, such as a puppeteer's graduation or to fulfil a vow, such performances are not intended for entertainment.
