Musical instruments of Sabah and Sarawak

Sabah and Sarawak have a rich instrumental music tradition, reflective of the many different ethnic groups living in the states. Solo instruments are usually played for personal entertainment, while group ensembles are used during rituals and celebrations. Instruments may be played by either men or women although this can vary according to culture, context and instrument.
