Local compositions and songs of Indian music reflect a blend of Indian classical styles and western elements.
Music is an integral element of celebrations and religious rituals among the Malaysian Indians. Over the centuries many types of folk, popular and classical music of India were carried to Malaysia by adventurers, merchants, immigrants and visitors. This music has influenced other styles and trends, notably in Malaysian popular music, and Indian musical instruments are also featured in contemporary jazz and art music.
