The entranced tok puteri dances and duets with the patient. This is the crux of Main Puteri.
Malay shamanistic theatre exists as a means of ritualistic healing. Of such forms of theatre found in Malaysia, Main Puteri is the most elaborate, sophisticated and complex. Bagih is a less dramatic healing ritual, without the theatrical elements of Main Puteri. Two other healing rituals, Gebiah and Belian, are no longer performed by the Malays, but are still kept alive by the Orang Asli.
