Built at a cost of RM210 million, the National Theatre's auditorium has a seating capcity of 1,445.
Apart from universities, several institutions and organizations, both government and private, are actively involved in promoting the performing arts. While the National Theatre and the National Arts Academy, in particular, have played major roles and served as catalysts for the promotion of the traditional arts forms, the contribution of private organizations is no less significant as they have nourished and nurtured a thriving performing arts environment in Malaysia.
