Malaysia, with its long coastline, many islands and tropical climate, has a superb natural resource which has been increasingly tapped for its tourism potential. For the long-term sustainability of the industry and the environment, it is important that serious conservation and sustainable development efforts are encouraged. Current efforts are directed at saving the mainland beaches, islands and coral reefs by managing them sustainably and by educating tourists, tour operators and developers.
