Tides
A tide is the rise and fall of water level caused mainly by the gravitational attraction between the earth, the moon and the sun. Tides play an important role in Malaysia, surrounded as it is by seas. Knowledge of tides is essential, particularly for ships' captains and fishermen. Data about tides are needed to support the rapid growth of the coastal maritime sectors in Malaysia, and for this reason tide observation facilities are being set up at every port.
