Geological evidence: Core samples
7 million years or so ago
More sediments accumulated, burying the remains. Physical and chemical reactions took place in the sediments as rock formation began.
Geological evidence in the form of undersea features, coastal landforms such as coastal plains and raised beaches, the position of coral reefs, and the analysis of rock and sedimentary deposits, all contribute towards providing a picture of how the earth changes over time. Sea level fluctuations can be charted and the world's changing climate recorded. Scientists in Malaysia have extracted core samples from sediments. By dating them and analysing the data collected, scientists have been able to reconstruct a picture of Malaysia through geological time.
