Universiti Islam Antarabangsa's main administration building displays and eclectic mixture of Middle Eastern Proportions and traditional Malay vernacular elements to create a Muslim-Malay identity.
Since 1962, when the first independent Malaysian university, Universiti Malaya, was established in Kuala Lumpur, there has been a surge in the number of institutions of higher learning throughout the country. Each university is unique in the sense that it was established to lead in a specific field related to the country's potential growth. Such distinctiveness is also evident in the architectural designs of the institutions themselves.
