Planning a new town: Petaling Jaya
Following World War II, a large number of 'new towns' were created in Malaysia to support a growing and increasingly urban-based population. This new town development was conceived primarily as a vehicle to expedite the housing, industrial and economic development of the country at a time of postwar economic recovery and early self-government.
