Building to serve a nation

With Independence (Merdeka) in 1957 came rapid development, particularly in the new Federal capital of Kuala Lumpur. There was an immediate need for a variety of infrastructure and building types to serve both the city's metropolitan requirements and those of Malaysia as a whole. As well as several massive developments, including a new international airport and a major hospital, Malaysia also required a national network of public service buildings such as schools and clinics.

Bank Negara

Constructed of reinforced concrete, Bank Negara (The Central Bank of Malaysia) comprises a large banking hall and tower block.
