Malay house, Thai influences

Malay houses in Kelantan and Terengganu show Thai and Combodian influences in the curved roof form and in the use of heavier wall panels.

This volume traces the development of Malaysia's architecture from the simplest built shelters to the mega projects of the late 20th century. Although no 'Golden Age' in Malaysia's history produced the equivalent of a Borobudur or an Angkor Wat, the country's geographical location has always opened it to ideas and influences from both East and West, resulting in an architectural mosaic of great diversity, artistry, sophistication and cross-cultural influences.
