Rock engravings
Engravings at Sungai Jaong.
Rock engravings or carvings, also known as petroglyphs, refer to any man-made process whereby material is removed from a rock surface to produce a design or pattern. In Malaysia, most ancient rock engravings are found in Sarawak, particularly in the northeast, while a few are located in the adjoining region of Sabah. The only recorded rock engravings in Peninsular Malaysia are the carved megaliths at Pengkalan Kempas in Negeri Sembilan.
