Megaliths

Leong Sau Heng

Although megaliths are not a widespread phenomenon in Malaysia, a fairly wide range of types are known, including stone cist graves, menhirs, petroglyphs, dolmens, stone jars, stone seats and stone tables. None of these predate the Metal Age, from 200 BCE to 1000 CE, while some were still in ritual use up till historic and even recent times. The most common form of Malaysian megaliths are menhirs, which are found in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah and Sarawak.
