The Pengkalan Kempas inscriptions
The main collection of megaliths at Pengkalan Kempas is surrounded by smaller laterite and granite stones which were also placed there according to some unknown religious ritual.
One of the most important sites relating to the introduction of Islam to Malaysia is the group of inscribed stones at the Pengkalan Kempas Complex in Negeri Sembilan. Formerly known as Keramat Sungai Udang, the site contains a group of standing carved megaliths of unknown date, and the 15th-century tomb and inscribed tombstone of Ahmad Majanu, a mysterious character who, according to the inscription, is variously described as a saint and a traitor, although current opinion favours the former.
