Axes. These tools are characterized by their heavy construction and strength.

Ever since the first ancient iron implements were unearthed in Peninsular Malaysia there has been much speculation as to their use, place of manufacture and production, and whether they were the products of a Malaysian Iron Age or were part of a joint Bronze-Iron Age. The majority of the implements are curious socketed, elbow-shaped tools, known to the Malays as tulang mawas, literally 'ape's bones', which are the subject of many intriguing legends.
