Chi tu: An inland kingdom
The royal court of Chi tu
By the 5th century CE, several kingdoms and entrepôts appeared on the Malay Peninsula and other parts of Southeast Asia. The majority of these were situated on the coast, although there were some inland kingdoms, the most prominent being Chi tu, or the 'Red Earth Land'. Its location is still not confirmed, but academic opinion favours the interior of the Peninsular Malaysian state of Kelantan.
