Candi Bukit Batu Pahat

Historians speculate that Candi Bukit Batu Pahat was a Hindu temple with a multi-tiered roof supported by a wooden framework above the vimana.

The word candi (pronounced 'chandi') is of uncertain origin. It is used in Indonesia and Malaysia to refer to any kind of permanent architecture constructed during the early historic period before the coming of Islam. However, its principal manifestation is the religious shrine. In Malaysia, only two regions have yielded confirmed examples of such remains: South Kedah and Santubong in Sarawak.
