Swifts and swiftlets
Swiftlets are best known to Malaysians as the birds whose edible nests are the source of birds' nest soup and other gourmet delicacies which utilize this seemingly unlikely source of food. However, it is only two species, the black-nest swiftlet (Aerodramus maximus) and the white-nest swiftlet (A. fuciphagus), which make these commercially valuable nests, though Malaysia has 13 species of swifts and swiftlets.
