Squirrels and the flying lemur
While flying squirrels roost in tree holes, some of the tree squirrels built globular nests of twigs.
As well as 26 species of diurnal tree and ground squirrels, Malaysia has 15 species of nocturnal flying squirrels, differentiated by their gliding membrane or patagium, which allows them to glide freely from tree to tree. Unrelated to the flying squirrels, the flying lemur (colugo) is easily confused with them because of its gliding ability.
