Pheasants and the jungle fowl
Pheasants and the jungle fowl, together with other game birds, belong to the order Galliformes. Members of this order differ from most other birds in spending most of their time on the ground rather than perching in trees. While Malaysia's eight pheasant species (which include three endemic species) are rarely seen birds as they live deep in the forest, the red jungle fowl is frequently sighted near forested areas.
