Nocturnal birds

Siti Hawa bt Yatim

Malaysia's nocturnal birds can be divided into two groups: owls belonging to the order Strigiformes and nightjars and frogmouths of the order Caprimulgiformes. It is the nightjars which are the most frequently seen because of their habit of resting (and nesting) on the ground in quite open areas in the daytime, rather than high in forest trees as do the owls and frogmouths.
