Leeches and earthworms
Early bird catches the worm. This popular saying probably originates from the earthworm's early morning return to its burrow after its nocturnal activities.
Leeches and earthworms are both members of the phylum Annelida. In Malaysia, leeches (class Oligochaeta) are mostly considered a nuisance to both humans and animals, although they have medical uses. Earthworms (class Hirudinea) are appreciated for their beneficial effect on soil fertility.
