Horseshoe crabs
A crab that is not a crab. Viewed from above, the reason for calling this creature a horseshoe crab is obvious, but its true relationship to, spiders and scorpions, when is revealed when viewed from the underside and its six pairs of legs can be seen.
One of the most unusual creatures to be encountered on the shores of Malaysia is a plate-like animal with a long, spine-like tail. Slow moving and totally harmless, it has no offensive tendency, no sharp teeth, no strong pincers and when caught, will merely flick its spiny tail about slowly. This creature is the horseshoe crab, of which Malaysia has three of the world's four living species.
