Flying lizard

In order to glide from tree to tree, flying lizards spread their large wing-like flying membrane.

Flight adaptation in reptiles, which has existed since the time of the Pterosaurs during the Triassic period about 225 million years ago, is now confined to a very few lizards and snakes. In Malaysia, these are geckos of the genus Ptychozoon, lizards of Draco species and snakes of the genus Chrysopelea, whose ability to glide from tree to tree is an adaptation to life in the dense rainforest.
