Crocodile and the false gharial

The main distinguishing features of the estuarine crocodile (top) and the flase ghairal (bottom) are the length of the snout and the sharpness of the teeth.

Malaysia has only two of the 25 species of the order Crocodylia, the closest living relatives of dinosaurs and birds, found throughout the tropical regions of the world. These are the estuarine crocodile, the largest of all the crocodile species, and the much less aggressive false gharial, a species with markedly different habits and habitats.
