Cicadas and bugs
Cicadas and bugs, which are very common insects in Malaysia, belong to the orders Homoptera and Hemiptera respectively. People often apply the term 'bug' to any kind of insect, but only members of the order Hemiptera are true bugs. Cicadas and bugs have similar piercing and sucking feeding habits which are different from those of other insects, and it is these habits which make them agricultural pests.
