Mohd Zakaria-Ismail

There are more than 1,500 species of carps in the world, forming the family Cyprinidae. Of these, 100 species occur naturally in Malaysia, including a few endemics, while other species have been introduced. Malaysia also has 50 species of catfishes, which represent only a small fraction of the 2,000 widely diverse species of catfishes (divided among about 34 families) present worldwide.
