Bees, wasps and hornets
Malaysia has the greatest diversity (about 35 species) of stingless bees (Trigona spp.) in the Asian tropics. The honey of these bees is exploited, as is that of the giant honeybee, Apis dorsata, which nests in forest trees, and the common hive bee, Apis cerana. Some wasps are also exploitedas biological control agentswhile the hornets (large social wasps) can be dangerous to humans.
