Aquarium fishes
The beauty and brilliant colours of Malaysian freshwater fishes, coupled with their good temperament, have made them very popular as aquarium fishes all over the world. The golden dragon fish (Scleropages formosus) is probably the most decorative aquarium fish of Malaysia. The belief that it will bring prosperity to the owner has resulted in the species becoming one of the most expensive freshwater aquarium fishes in the world. Other popular aquarium fishes include the gouramis, snakeheads, rasborine and puntiid carps, catfishes and puffer fishes.
