The three most species-rich herb genera in Peninsular Malaysia

Herbs are usually non-woody, small and soft-leaved plants, but there are exceptions to this which illustrate the wealth of variety of their shapes, forms and ways of life. Most monocotyledons, except the palms and bamboos, are herbs. Dicotyledons are also well represented. About 30 per cent of all species of flowering plants in Malaysia are herbs.
