Fungi

Lee Su See

Fungi are a diverse group of saprobic (living on dead organic matter), symbiotic or parasitic organisms that help to ensure the continued existence of Malaysian forests by decomposing organic matter and recycling nutrients. They are found in a wide range of habitats, and the edible varieties are food for both animals and humans. They can be both beneficial, when used in industrial processing, and destructive, as they cause disease in humans, animals and economically important plants.
