Dr E. Soepadmo has had broad experience in the fields of tropical botany and ecology as a botanist (at the world-renowned Hebarium Bogoriense, Bogor, Indonesia), researcher, lecturer (he was Lecturer and Professor at Universiti Malaya from 1968 to 1993), consultant, member of numerous research and planning committees, editor and author. He then became Coordinator and Chief Editor of the Tree Flora of Sabah and Sarawak Project at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kuala Lumpur.
