Tun Dato’ Seri Ahmad Sarji bin Abdul Hamid is president of the Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation (MLBF) and president of the Asia Lawn Bowls Federation. Under his leadership, Malaysia is now ranked third in the team world rankings and has Safuan Said as the number one men’s lawn bowler and Siti Zalina Ahmad as the number three women’s lawn bowler in the world. The MLBF is ranked in the top three national sports associations by the Olympic Council of Malaysia. Tun Dato’ Seri Ahmad Sarji also serves as deputy president of the Malaysian Malays Cricket Association. In recognition of his contribution to sports, he received the National Sports Council’s Sports Leadership Award for 2006.
As chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and president of Badan Warisan Malaysia (Heritage of Malaysia Trust), Tun Dato’ Seri Ahmad Sarji has spearheaded the acquisition, restoration and preservation of Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara, two of Malaysia’s most significant sports landmarks.
