Judo and other martial arts
Unlike karate and taekwondo, judo does not involve any kicks, aerial movements or punches. A judo exponent tries to subdue his opponent by gripping his uniform and using the forces of balance, power and movement. The first judo school was established in 1882 in Japan, while Malaysia’s first training centre was opened in 1951. Malaysia is also home to practitioners of a myriad of other martial arts which include aikido, ninjutsu, kendo, kalari payat and forms of kickboxing.
