From its invention in the late 19th century, table tennis or ‘ping pong’ has evolved into a sport that is played competitively by some 40 million players worldwide and by many more recreationally. Table tennis contests have been organized in Malaysia since 1952. The country has hosted numerous world-class tournaments and Malaysian players have achieved notable success at the international level.
