Hockey: International achievements

Malaysian teams have competed internationally since the 1930s, and have continually achieved success on the world stage. The high point of Malaysian hockey was the 3rd Hockey World Cup held in Kuala Lumpur in 1975, when hockey-fever gripped the nation and national players became household names. Malaysians continue to distinguish themselves in international competitions such as the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 Asia Cup in which the national team won bronze medals.

Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin

The most capped player in local hockey history, forward Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin turned out in national colours a record 328 times from 1985 to 2000, competing in three Olympic Games and three Asian Games as well as a World Cup.
