Hockey: International achievements
Malaysian teams have competed internationally since the 1930s, and have continually achieved success on the world stage. The high point of Malaysian hockey was the 3rd Hockey World Cup held in Kuala Lumpur in 1975, when hockey-fever gripped the nation and national players became household names. Malaysians continue to distinguish themselves in international competitions such as the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 Asia Cup in which the national team won bronze medals.
