Sepak raga is an ancient game which has been played on the Malay Peninsula for over 500 years. The word sepak means ‘to kick’ while raga refers to ‘a rattan ball’. The rules and method of playing sepak raga have changed markedly over time, and sepak takraw, a modern variation, has emerged as a competitive sport. Sepak takraw is a fast-paced sport that demands physical and mental strength and dexterity. Malaysia’s national teams have achieved great success in international competitions.
