Top spinning
Some of the largest, heaviest and aesthetically outstanding tops in the world can be found in the Southeast Asian islands of Java and Bali and in Malaysia. In Malaysia, particularly among the Malay communities of the east coast of the Malay Peninsula, top spinning (main gasing) is a competitive sport. Contests are held throughout the year, and the pastime has developed into a major social, cultural and athletic phenomenon.
