Nirmala Dutt Shanmughalingam

Nirmala Dutt Shanmughalingam’s Vietnam (1981), acrylic on canvas work, deals with the American war against Vietnam. Her work generally has a severe stark style rendered in black and white and employs techniques such as image repetition and structural composition to heighten emotional impact

Issues based art includes work that directly addresses and re-questions social narratives and contexts, national and international political events.
