Pottery forms and motifs
Created to serve a particular purpose, various pottery forms have evolved within the various ethnic groups of Malaysia. Decoration in motif form is often inspired by elements of nature. Religious influences, too, are evident in the pottery of some communities. Generally, the Malay and Chinese are largely influenced by plant and animal motifs. Indian pottery is better known for its plain forms and often unadorned cooking pots and water containers, and tribal communities for their clay containers and burial urns.
