Protection through the law
Malaysia’s legal framework protects the rights of employees, consumers, companies and creators of intellectual property. Basic employee rights are ensured. Consumer protection, which emerged in the 1960s as a public reaction against fluctuating prices, is today enforced by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. Company laws govern the formation and conduct of businesses, while laws relating to copyrights, trademarks and patents safeguard the rights of companies, inventors and creators of intellectual property.
