The government is instrumental in developing the nation. Administrative power in Malaysia is shared between the Federal Government and the 13 states. While the bulk of state revenue is derived from state sources, development funding primarily comes from the Federal Government. Local authorities are the third tier of the government, and have their own revenue streams.
