Orang Asli social organization and leadership
The Orang Asli, comprising the Negritos, Senoi and Proto-Malays, are no longer nomadic. Although the majority still hunt, fish and forage occasionally, all practise some form of agriculture and live in settlements. Many are well educated and work in the public and private sectors. Their traditional forms of social organization have also undergone a process of change. As a result of increasing relations with the wider Malaysian society, they have developed new leadership and representative systems.
