Kajang and other Orang Ulu groups
The Orang Ulu are a conglomeration of minority indigenous groups that make up five per cent of the population of Sarawak. They are mainly found in the northern interior of Sarawak, in the Belaga, Baram, Limbang and Lawas Districts, and comprise the Kayan, Kenyah, and Kajang and several other related groups. The main Orang Ulu groups are featured separately in this volume. Despite their small numbers, they are represented in both the private and public sectors, and take pride in contributing to the state’s development. They have also withstood the pressure of modernization and retained much of their cultural heritage.
