The artistic and cultural expressions of Malaysian Indians are part of a rich, ancient heritage brought by their forebears in the 19th and 20th centuries. These traditions are mainly associated with Hinduism and Hindu mythology, and reflect the life, ethics and beliefs of the Indian people. The traditions active in Malaysia have retained many of their original styles and characteristics; at the same time, some have incorporated elements from other cultures.
