Nationalism: Non-Malays in the Peninsula

The non-Malays in the Peninsula approached nationalism in different ways. Many Chinese and Indian migrant workers were transient; after a time they returned to their respective homelands. Even those who did settle in the Peninsula often maintained certain loyalties to their homeland. It was only after World War II that the majority of these ethnic groups developed a greater sense of belonging to the Peninsula.
