Merdeka! Attaining Independence
The Proclamation of Independence was made at the newly completed Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
After World War II ended, the global climate favoured an end to colonialism. It was only a matter of time before the British crown colonies and protectorates, including Malaya, would be granted self-government and subsequently Independence.
